Guy 1: Hi, Good Morning! Do you want to grab some coffee?

Guy 2: Sure, I want black this time. I haven’t had enough sleep today.

Guy 1: I think I’ll have that too. I had personal errands done and I only had 3 hours of sleep.

A typical scenario in a BPO to start up their daily routine. This is a day to day thing when you are working at night and you need to pass through your scheduled shift. That caffeine will surely help a lot to awaken your sleeping blood. At times, it is difficult to work if you’re not 100% ready but, a cup of coffee will surely jump-start your day.

Many of us have coffee preferences in a given day depending on how your sleep affected your mood. Many would prefer a black or brewed coffee because they really need an awakening pill and some would just go with the sweet and creamy coffee for them to have a taste of a little bit of caffeine to lift their mood. It also differs from one another where they will buy a coffee. Well, many would prefer Starbucks as many agrees, some would prefer to get a cup of coffee from a vendo machine, some also would drop by a convenience store to grab one and the others will just have a coffee sachet or a 3 in 1 coffee.

We might have these preferences and it might differ from each other but, there’s only one common denominator and that is “coffee”.

Based on my experience for the past 9 years, working at night takes a lot of your energy and effort. Well, normally a person is more energized when sleeping at night and working by the day. Sleeping at the height of the striking sun gets yourself putting a lot of effort to close your eyes and have a daydream. Funny as it sounds but, that is the reality of a night walker. Another challenge is waking yourself up after that very short and effortful sleep. I think this is the hardest part. Indeed, because after all the alarms you’ve snooze you are still asking yourself another 10 or 5 minutes. Yet, you are not pulling yourself off the bed and keep snuggling into your pillow. With all that battle, finally you have found a grip and prepared for work.

Now, the next battle is at your workplace wherein, you have to get through the day. The workload is piling up and you can’t keep up because your engines aren’t 100% ready. You have to get a full charge or you would be done by the day early part of your shift. That’s when you need to re-charge and by saying that it means “get up” and grab your refueling coffee. One you’re filled up, your engines are up and running. Then, that is when you say “Let’s burn that workload!” and you wouldn’t notice you’re done with your shift.

Hooray! That’s the word I would say after finishing my scheduled shift despite a slow start. I know that another shift is needed to be faced and I am not backing off. Because I believe that I can get by and finish the workload regardless of the struggles I’ll encounter.

For I know, a life working at night wouldn’t be smooth sailing without a Cup of Coffee.

Way to go “Night Walkers”.
